The RGU Palestinian Society is truly excited to share its first event of the year: a Palestine History Night. This event will display a documentary about the culture and history of Palestine, followed by a Q&A session.
The chosen documentary is ‘Palestine 1920: The Other Side of the Palestinian Story’. This documentary shows how Palestinian lands and cities had a developing trade and commercial sector, growing infrastructure, and embryonic culture that would enable them to meet the challenges of the decades ahead. However, the political ramifications of the Balfour Declaration, San Remo Conference and British Mandate set in motion a series of events that profoundly affected this vibrant, fledgeling society and led to the events of the Nakba (Catastrophe) in 1948 and beyond.
Bring your friends and come along to a night of discovery of Palestine history and culture. All the funds raised from this event will go to Scarf for Gaza, an Aberdeen based campaign that has been working on the ground of Gaza for the past two years.
